The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & Ashley Madison Have ALOT in Common

For those of you who aren’t big readers (like yours truly), you’ll want to read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Reason being – Affairs are Rampant in Both! I understand why there is such a buzz around this book, as it’s being turned into a major motion picture movie in the United States (slated for Dec 2011)? It’s quite an intriguing read as I finally finished it on my trip to Vegas. How this correlates to Ashley Madison is simple, affairs are rampant in this book. Not only are the main characters in this book having affairs (which should be enough of a reason to get the book), but they do so in a quite an interesting fashion.

The author’s (Stieg Larsson) second book “The Girl Who Played With Fire” continues this theme. The topic in this book (which I’m still reading by the way) deals with sex trafficking. While craigslist continues to get murdered in the press for this, Larsson’s 2nd book had one eye opening fact. He states that human trafficking is primarily girls from the age of 15-20. If that doesn’t shake your head, he also states that the people who make money off of this isn’t your “mafia” stereotype. Instead, this underground world consists of pimps and low lives that trick these girls into the sex trade. The closest movie I can relate to this is Hostel (1 or 2).

So these women are essentially forced into being a prostitute, excuse me escort (don’t want to piss Craigslist off here, as if they don’t have enough problems).? Isn’t it sad that these women are used SEVERAL times a day, even in a down economy. When you dealing with the low end of the prostitute scale, pimps look at these women as property. Essentially, the prostitute arena functions similar to a marketplace. With more women waiting for their next “john”, the pimps will drive down the price of an escort. After all, a girl not getting laid doesn’t make the pimp any money. Sad right?

So how does Ashley Madison play into any of this? Well, we all know married men turn to prostitutes to fill that sexual void/boredom in their relationship.
